Can Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator DA70 Be Converted to Disc Brakes Later

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/10/2025

Question:

Good Morning, Looking to replace an Atwood actuator with the DA70. At some point in the future. I will also upgrade from drum to disc brakes. Will I be able to use the DA70 just by installing a lockout solenoid? Thank you, Shawn

Hey Shawn! The Demco Hydraulic Brake Actuator # DM72VR (DA70) can be converted in the future when you switch to disc brakes. As you said, you will need the Reverse Lockout Solenoid Kit # DM5836. You will also need to swap out the master cylinder with the Replacement Master Cylinder for Demco Actuators - Disc Brakes # 5672. If you have any other questions don't hesitate to reach out in the comments below.

Hey Shawn, how did things go with the DA70 actuator and the lockout solenoid setup? Did the conversion plan make sense for your future switch to disc brakes? Your update could make it easier for others planning a similar upgrade.
