Best Single Bike Rack For Carrying 50 lb E-Bike On 2021 Hyundai Kona SUV

Question:

Have a 2021 Hyndai Kona SUV. Need recommendation for type of hitch and rack. Bike is an E-Bike around 50 lbs. Needs to be frame mount rack and single rack preferred.

Hello Jeff, thanks for reaching out. The trailer hitch on your 2021 Hyundai Kona is a 2" receiver, correct? If so, the Benton Bike Rack # B54VR is a great option for carrying a single bike. It has a weight capacity of 80 lbs, so a 50 lb E-Bike will be no problem. This rack will work with a wheelbase of up to 50" and will fit tires up to 4" wide. The upright arm can mount to the frame or to the wheel, so it can even work with alternative frame styles like step-thru frames. For the price, you will not find a more durable single bike rack.

@Jeff Gotcha! What I recommend is the Curt Class 3 Hitch # C98QV. This has a 2" receiver and a 200 lb tongue weight capacity so it will work great with that Benton Bike Rack I recommended. You plan on installing the hitch yourself? There is no drilling required but you will have to loosen the underbody panel/bumper fascia temporarily. The exhaust will also need to be lowered temporarily. Let me know if you need anything else!
