Looking For Replacement Slipper Spring For 1991 Single Axle Boat Trailer

Updated 10/22/2025 | Published 04/05/2025

Question:

I have a 1991 long trailer single axle boat trailer that currently has slipper leaf springs on it. The distance on center between the hangers is 24 5/8 inch. Does that mean this leaf spring would work or do I need a longer one? The current leaf springs look quite old but measure roughly 28 inches from end to end with the boat on the trailer and the trailer on the ground. The current springs appear to have 3 leaves.

Hello Sean, thanks for reaching out. You would want to go with something longer than 24-5/8" if that is the distance between our hangers. The 24-5/8" measurement for the leaf spring is from the center eye to the tip of the leaf. So this would not be quite long enough. I would go with something more like 25-1/2" or 26" based on your hanger spacing. Sadly, we do not offer anything in this size for a 2,000 lb axle.

Hey Sean, were you able to find a longer slipper spring that fits your trailer’s hanger spacing? Knowing what worked could help others trying to replace older springs on similar trailers.
