Can Trailer Have Suspension Replaced with More Off Road Style Suspension

Updated 03/17/2025 | Published 03/08/2025

Question:

My wife and I are purchasing an older 26ft dual axle travel trailer. Since it will need suspension work anyway is it possible to upgrade to a suspension such as taller off road? I would like to upgrade small tiers to at least a wider tire and wheel. More of an off grid no main road situation Thank you for your time

Hey Jamal, yes it is possible. There are torsion axles that have more of a lift built into them and there are also the Timbren Axle Less that are really nice for off road like the part # T99GR which also has a 4 inch lift built into it. Its also designed for wider off-road wheels and tires too. This is designed to replace a 5,200 lb axle. It doesn't have a crossbeam that runs under the trailer too so that helps a lot with ground clearance.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I will reach out more with other questions since I am a noob to travel trailer ownership. I do have a couple other questions. Where can I get upgraded light fixtures, covers and trim? Thank you for your time

@Jamal We do have some interior lighting fixtures that you can see at the attached link. When you say covers and trim though what do you mean by that?

@JamesonC the edge trim around the ceiling, the outer edge trim around the front cap. I noticed the front cap pulling away from side panel where water has gotten in and started damaging the front passenger thru storage
