Troubleshooting the Curt Echo Not Pairing w/ a 2020 Ford F-150 w/ a Dead Trailer Battery
Updated 03/12/2025 | Published 02/27/2025 >
Question:
Bought the Controller when I bought the camper in 2022. Everything worked fine for two years. Upgraded the app. Not able to pair device no more. My routine: 2020 Ford F-150 running Camper connected to trailer Towing mode on Plugin Controller Hook up camper pair device Does the Curt need a 12v batter power source in the camper? All camper lights come on through the 7-pin connector to the truck. However I think the camper battery is dead. Ok, when the camper is plugged into shore power, was able to pair the Curt Bluetooth device as before. When disconnected from the power Bluetooth is lost.

Hey Lambert! It looks like for the Echo item # C51180 to pair with your phone, your 2020 Ford F-150 not only needs the towing mode on but also for your trailer to be connected and sending power back on the +12V power circuit. That's why you're able to pair the Curt Echo item # C51180 when your trailer was connected to shore power. I recommend replacing that battery.

Thanks Jerred, you were spot on. Took the battery in and it had life, needed a recharge. All works perfectly!
