Recommended Crossbars for a 2012 Honda Pilot W/ Factory Rails

Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 02/22/2025

Question:

I’m looking for crossbars to mount a Hullevator TH898 on a 2012 Honda Pilot with factory side raised rails that run front to back. I understand that the crossbars need an overhang so the chart recommended Thule 135cm won’t work. What are my options from Thule, Malone and Rhino-Rack?

Hey Kathy, so from the three brands you're asking about you really only have options from Thule and Malone. Rhino-Rack does have a set of bars # RR82QE, but they are only an inch longer than the 135 cm bars you're saying won't work.

So with that said, you can either go with the Malone AirFlow2 Roof Rack # MPG216 which are 58" long (5" longer than Thule's 135 cm bars), or the Thule WingBar Evo Roof Rack for Raised Rails # TH45ZA which are 60" long (7" longer than Thule's 135 cm bars).

Thule's probably your best bet here considering you're going to get a lot more length that you'll need for the Hullavator. Plus, I've actually installed these bars on a different vehicle and it was pretty quick and easy, which is always a plus.

Where are you heading with the Hullavator? Any place or places cool? Feel free to let me know in the comments if there's anything else I can do for you!

Hey Kathy, how did things go with the Thule WingBar Evo or the Malone AirFlow2 crossbars on your Pilot? Did the extra length give you the clearance you needed for the Hullavator? Your update could make it easier for others setting up a similar roof rack.
