Can GearSpace 34 Carrier HGK819 Be Used On ProMaster Van With Spare Tire On Rear Door?

Question:
I have a standard sized Promaster 3500 spare tire. Any suggestions on how to mount? I may be back to buying a door mounted spare tire rack and a owl monster aluminum cargo box mounted on passenger door

Hello William, thanks for reaching out. The GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier # HGK819 gives you only 10" from the hitch pin hole to the closest edge of the carrier. Because of this limited space, there would be no way to install this carrier with a spare tire mounted on the bottom half of the door. The picture below shows an example of the carrier mounted on a sprinter van, and as you can see there is nowhere near enough space for a spare tire. Also, using this carrier with a hitch extension is out of the question. You would have to store the spare tire inside the van, or inside the carrier itself.

I found a way to mount the spare tire on our 2024 Thor Promaster 3500 van. Install a Black River mullet mount on passenger door then install the tire carrier high so. that it would clear the Gear Space cargo carrier. Other carrier companies rack would also work.
