Can 2024 Hyundai Palisade Universal Wiring Upgrade Kit Only be Connected to Reverse Light Circuit?

Updated 01/30/2025 | Published 01/29/2025

Question:

Hello, I have a 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy Night with a 4-pin wire harness already installed. I am looking to upgrade to a 7-pin in order to pull a small boat and trailer with surge brakes. I do not plan on needing a brake controller at this time. Can I install this or another product without the brake controller portion in order to backup a boat trailer with surge brakes? If so, how is that done, as the video specific to installation in a Hyundai Palisade does not mention that part. Thanks.

Hey Brock, thanks for reaching out!

The Universal Wiring Upgrade Kit # ETBC7 will definitely get you what you're needing on your 2024 Hyundai Palisade. You'll need to run a wire from the reverse light pin (center pin) to a light on the reverse light circuit on your Palisade. We didn't show how to do this in the video because most people don't need this circuit connected and it requires splicing into your OEM wiring.

I also recommend picking up the No-Drill Bracket # 18136 for an easy way to mount the 4-Way/7-Way near your hitch receiver, and then also running the 12V power and brake controller wiring up to the front of your vehicle during your installation. You don't need to make any connections, just run the wiring so if you end up needing to use those circuits you don't have to get up and under your vehicle again.

Are you planning on doing this installation yourself, or were you looking to have a shop do it for you?
