Comparing The Curt # C32NR and Hopkins # HM40978 Mounting Brackets

Updated 01/22/2025 | Published 01/19/2025

Question:

Could I get an honest comparison between the Curt C32NR and the Hopkins HM40978 brackets? Which one is more heavy duty, and would be less prone to bending when plugging-in the connector? The Curt seems to be made of thicker material, but if you have them side by side, maybe you could better tell. Thank you, Terry

Hey Terry,

I went out to the warehouse to get both the Curt # C32NR and Hopkins # HM40978 mounting brackets in my hands and found that both are the same thickness but the Hopkins bracket was better. The # HM40978 has two indentations in it that strengthen it and prevent the two halves from bending towards each other. The Curt bracket isn't flimsy but without those indentations I could bend it by hand if I really wanted to.

If you need any help picking out the wiring to go along with these brackets just let me know the year/make/model of the vehicle and I'd be happy to help.
