What Hitch is Going to be My Best Fit For My 1984 Dodge W150 with Bolt Width of 36.25"?

Question:

Hello - looking to find the right trailer hitch for my 1984 Dodge W150. All the recommended ones seem to have too much of a top of mount to top of tube. Looking for 3” with an approximate bolt pattern width of 36.25” Thank you

Hello Charles,

Since you were looking at the # BWHDRH25122 I am going to assume that your 1984 Dodge W150 is a standard or step bumper and NOT the deep drop bumper. After reviewing all the hitches that we offer for the 1984 Dodge Ran Pickup, the # BWHDRH25122 is going to be your best fit. It is the closest we are going to get you to the 36.25" bolt pattern you are looking for. I have included two images so you can see the schematics of the # BWHDRH25122. I do not have a drawing of the Curt # C15511 but if you look at the chart I attached the total length from outside to outside is 33.626" putting you further away from the 36.25" mounting hole distance you are looking for. Also the distance from the top of the receive to the top mounting bracket is 5.438", that way you can measure from your frame to see if that distance will work for you.

I do see that if you do go with the # BWHDRH25122 drilling is required for installation, hitch is designed for vehicles with a standard factory bumper, and on most dually trucks, the spare tire will no longer be able to be stored under the bed and will need to be relocated.

I hope this is helpful. Happy New Year! From, your friends here at etrailer!

Hi Charles, how did things work out with the B&W hitch for your Dodge W150? Did the bolt pattern and height end up matching what you needed? Your update could make it easier for others working with older Dodge pickups.
