Parts Needed to Convert 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Hookup on a 2020 Ram 3500

Updated 01/03/2025 | Published 12/29/2024

Question:

I would like help in knowing Which products i need based on my 5th wheel. I want to take and switch to a goosneck. After looking at gvwr of trailer and .22 i get 3700 But unclear which model will align with the holes on my lippert system montana Also because we have a 2020 megacab ram shortbed, I would like the offset ball puck mount. I know there is information I still need to provide but hopefully this is a start

Hey Darrell,

Definitely a great start to the information needed to get you converted over to a gooseneck towing system.

If you can confirm what model pin box you have (like a Lippert 1621) or at least let me know what the serial number is I'll be able to cross-reference that and let you know what Gen-Y pin box is needed.

When it comes to the offset ball puck mount I'm guessing you have the OEM puck system by your wording so the Gen-Y Hitch # GY83XR is what fits your setup.

Thanks for the reply Jon. I do not see any luppert model but see 2 serial numbers. I believe the 1st is what you need but I'll include both. S010267327 4YDFM0U28P4701444 Ours has a 19,000 lbs capacity Ty

@Darrell Thanks for the information! I was able to get a reply from my contact at Lippert and they did verify that you have a Lippert 1116 pin box, so the correct Gen-Y is part # GY73FR.

Based on it being a 19000lb weight capacity and also the 6 bolts and their configuration (2x3 horizontally) it looks like the Lippert 1116 model
