Question:
Considering purchasing a 2015 F-250 with the intent of pulling a 14k 5th wheel. the truck has a 3 suspension lift and taller tires than stock. My question being is it possible to outfit his truck with a hitch considering the height and is it advisable?

Hey Rick, thanks for reaching out. It is possible to outfit this lifted 2015 Ford F-250 with a 5th wheel hitch. Since it has a 3" suspension lift there are a few things you will want to consider. Most people are not adding lift kits to their trucks with 5th wheel towing in mind if you catch my meaning.
The idea is we want the 5th wheel to ride level, and with the lifted truck we need to adjust your equipment accordingly to get a level ride. Most 5th wheel hitches have a provision for a bit of height adjustment, and you will likely need to adjust your hitch to the lowest possible height setting. Most 5th wheel pin boxes also have a few sets of holes for height adjustment and you may need to have the pin box moved up a few holes to compensate for the lift and taller tires.
For example, the B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch # BWRVK3300 is made for the Ford OEM puck system and it can be adjusted between 16-3/4" and 18-3/4" tall. B&W hitches are the best as far as quality and durability so as long as this truck has a long bed and the OEM puck system, this is what I would go with.
If it is a short bed without the OEM puck system you will need to install a rail kit, part # BWRVR3200. A slider hitch # BWRVK3270 is recommended for the short bed to help with clearance on tight turns.
If adjusting the height on the 5th wheel hitch and pin box are not enough to level the 5th wheel we would look at adding a lift kit to the trailer or removing the lift from the truck but we can cross that bridge if/when we come to it. If you were to find a similar truck without a lift kit and with stock tires you would not have to worry about any of this.
If you can let me know more details on this truck like the bed length or if it has the OEM puck system I can confirm the correct 5th wheel hitch/install kit for you. Otherwise let me know if you have any questions or if you need anything else just comment below.

Hey Rick, how did things work out with your lifted F-250 and the 5th wheel setup? Were you able to get the trailer riding level after adjusting the hitch and pin box height? Your update could make it easier for others towing with lifted trucks.
