Replacement AC for Dometic 640315C751J0

Updated 08/03/2026 | Published 12/03/2024

Question:

Hi, I am looking to replace my dometic ac unit. We have a dometic model 640315C751J0. I understand it is a 13500 btu ac with heat with manual control non ducted and low profile in black. I would like to replace it with low profile black 15000 btu ac only and hoping not to have to change to roof cutout. What would you recommend and do I need to change the inside unit as well. Trying to be as economical as possible and keeping it simple so I can do it myself. Many thanks

Hi Rod; for a simple plug and play low profile replacement for your Dometic setup you can use the Dometic Penguin II High Capacity RV Air Conditioner w/ Heat Pump # DMC33ZR. This is designed to replace units with the manual air distribution box like yours and will not require replacing the inside unit.

Hey Rod, how did the swap to the Dometic Penguin II work out for your setup? It sounds like it should have been a straightforward fit with your existing inside unit. Sharing how it went could help others planning a similar upgrade.

Robin if I wanted to replace my 640315.751JO-M what unit would you recommend if I didn’t want to upgrade but replace only?

@RickP the only thing we have left that would work is the Furrion Chill HE # FR86PR (if you have a 6-pin connector) or # FR32PV (9-pin connector). These are our remaining R410A units. Anything that is the newer R32 will require a full system replacement.
