What to Check for if One Tire on a 2018 Keystone Bullet Ultra Lite 277BHS Travel Trailer Wears Down

Published 12/02/2024

Question:

Hi! I have a 2018 keystone bullet 277bhs and my driver side rear axle tire has worn the inside shoulder off. All 3 other tires are wearing perfect. Do you have any ideas what it might be? I tried replacing the hub but the wear is still occurring. Thank you.

Hey Chad,

Since all of your other tires are wearing just fine, it leads me to believe that you've either overloaded your trailer right above that tire, or the spindle that tire is installed on is damaged somehow and causing the tire to sit wonky compared to the road.

Try checking to see if the spindle is in good shape and that you aren't overloading that side of your trailer/axle, and if everything is in good shape then you might want to take your rig to a shop or an experienced friend to check on it as well.

Thanks Jon. Pretty sure a bent spindle makes the most sense. The grey and black tanks are over the rear axle and we were just boondocking for 20 days and had to travel back into town over a rough road to dump. Looking at axle options, what is the difference between your company’s complete axle and the Dexter axles?

@Chad The biggest difference that people typically note is that the Dexter Axle brand is made in the US while our axles are made overseas. While the Dexter brand is a really great quality product, we also feel really confident in the quality of our axles since we back them with a limited lifetime warranty. The bottom line is that the Dexter Axle brand is for people who prefer to stick with the name brand that came with their trailer, while our brand is offered at a lower cost for those who want to get their trailer back up and running without spending extra money on the name.
