Should the Turret of a Reese Airborne Sidewinder Be Able to Be Moved by Hand When New
Published 06/03/2014 >
Question:
I recently purchased a Grand Design Reflection 337 . I have a 2014 Dodge Ram 3500 6foot box. I had the GD dealer install my Reese Sidewinder hitch and I had some trouble with the universal wedge for the Husky hitch. I was able to get the right wedge T-4 and seems to work good. My question is the sidewinder will not move side to side by hand, without loosening the 4 bolts on top of the turret - is this normal? Could the dealer have got the wear plate in wrong? The turret seems to work while towing the trailer but not by hand at all Thanks a lot

What you are experiencing is normal, the tolerances for Sidewinders are so tight that it is very difficult to rotate the turret by hand, especially when new. After putting some miles on your setup it might loosen up enough that you could move it by hand, but as long as it moves like it should while towing you would be fine.
I attached an FAQ on Sidewinders for you to check out also.
