Is There a Replacement Option For a Turning Point Pin Box

Question:

I currently own a 2020 Rockwood fifth wheel with a Kurt Turning Point pin box. I am experiencing a considerable amount of chucking so I am considering replacing the pin box with an air ride pin box but am told that they wont work with the mounting hardware on the trailer. Are there any options out there that would work to put some type of air ride pin box on my trailer? Any adaptor plates perhaps? Thank you

There is one option, but there is not an air ride pin box replacement for a Turning Point pin box. There actually isn't another king pin option.

The only current option to replace a Turning Point is the Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY48GR.

Please note that the loaded pin weight of your 2020 Rockwood 5th wheel needs to be within the 1,500 lb. - 3,000 lb. range for this pin box to work properly.

If you made the switch you would also need to get a Safety Chain with 2 Hooks for Gen-Y 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box # GY49GR, trailers that use a ball connection are required to have safety chains.

This would impact your hitch situation too, it likely isn't worth all of the effort and expenditure. But, it is currently (07/23) the only option to replace a Turning Point pin box.
