Can Brakes be Added to Older Demco Budget KK300R Tow Dolly

Updated 12/15/2025 | Published 11/27/2024

Question:

I have a Budget KK300R 8foot 6inch Super Tow Dolly made by Demco. I would like to add electric brakes to it as we will be using it behind our 35foot Class A Bounder. I sent a picture of the hub mounting area. The bolt holes to the frame are not in a square patten but in a rectangle pattern 83mm side to side, 63mm top to bottom, measured across 104mm I need to know if anything is available to mount with existing sealed hub with a drum brake. Or does it need a spindle setup? Rig has 14inch rims Thanks, Ken Hemet, CA

Hey Ken, thanks for all of the information and photos!

I was able to reach out to my contact at Demco with that information, and he said that in order to swap everything out to get brakes on your tow dolly it would end up costing about the same as getting a whole new dolly, so it would make more sense just to go that route instead.

For a simple replacement I recommend the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes # RM-2050-1, but if you wanted to upgrade to something a bit nicer I recommend the Demco Kar Kaddy SS # DM9713045 because it comes with disc brakes and a foldable tongue for easier storage.

Hey Ken, how did things turn out with your tow dolly setup behind the Bounder? Did you end up going with the Roadmaster dolly or the Demco Kar Kaddy SS? Your update could make it easier for others deciding between those options.
