Question:

Hi, I have a 8x12 concession trailer and after putting equipment in it, trailer is very low. I would Like to raise it so the tires are not so close to it. I need expertise advice with the most cost effective solution for this. Thank you!

Hello Olga, thanks for reaching out. We may have a solution for lifting your concession trailer. I will need to know what kind of axle and suspension setup you have in order to recommend the correct lift kit.

For example, one option is the Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00 you were looking at. This kit will work with any 3" axle. It allows you to move the leaf spring pack from the bottom of the axle to the top, effectively raising the ride height by 3 ". Keep in mind this will only work for round tube axles where the leaf spring pack is positioned beneath the axle. We also offer this kit for 2-3/8" round axles part # K71-384-00 if that is what you have.

If you can confirm your axle capacity and diameter I am happy to confirm fitment or make another recommendation if needed. Just let me know.

Hi Jesse, Thank you so much for your reply. The round tube axle is 3” Each supports 3,500 each and have two axles so 7k lbs total

@OlgaM Ok great thanks for confirming. The Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00 will be a great option for you as long as your leaf springs are currently positioned UNDER the axle tube. If so, this will definitely be the best option for a lift because it will not require any welding or drilling.

@JesseM super to hear there is a solution, the manufacture confirmed that the leaf springs are under the axle. my last question, knowing that my trailer is double axle will I need four kits? Or just two? Also, I know prices vary depending of who performs this job but with your expertise do you have an ballpark estimated labor cost for this type of work with this kits? I just want to have an idea. I appreciate your help! Olga M

@Excellent! You will need two kits for a tandem axle trailer. As far as installation cost, generally installing an over-under kit on a tandem axle trailer would take around 2-3 hours but it kind of really depends on how dirty the undercarriage of the trailer is. A lot of time when we do these kits here the bottom of the trailer is all dirty and nothing wants to come off easy. If the undercarriage is clean it may not even take that long. Labor costs per hour can really vary depending on what state you are in. We are in rural Missouri and our labor is 150 per hour which I have been told is pretty low compared to other places.
