Does Furrion RV AC Unit for Coleman Allow Use of Dometic Ducts

Updated 11/21/2024 | Published 11/13/2024

Question:

@JamesonC On that note, I will order the furion. Just a few more questions. 1. The current Blizzard NXT has only 3 prongs on thermostat inside, but on the left side on/off/AC/Heat does run the heat pump under the stairs. Do I use the same Dometic thermostat or do I need a Furion? 2. My AC has an air duct system that runs through the ceiling. I assume it’s takes the air from my filtered intakes inside and routes thru to outtakes duct system. E.g. a duct system set up?

The wiring of the Furrion # FR32PV allows it to be controlled by the thermostat controls you have already so you would not need to use a Furrion thermostat.

This unit was designed to be used with ducted ceilings like you have so it would work great in that regard as well.

@JamesonC Hey Jameson, Houston we have a problem. Details. 1. Placement of the unit worked out though there is a gap between and intake and outtake but I can fix that easily. 2. The bolt holes didn’t line up. These are actually lag screws that go in the roof trusses, and this unit has bolts and hangars I am assuming. But I might be able to find and alternative to getting this attached. By the way, no instructions in the box. 3. Here’s where the real problem is. Dometic wiring has a 20 amp 10 gauge yellow wire for power. See pic. But the Furion has no such power connector. The Furion does have a 12 awg wire setup that I am assuming connects to my 14 awg that appear to go to the thermostat as there are a bunch of low voltage wires coming off of those 14awg wires. See pic. So bottom line, I have no idea how to wire this thing up as it’s very different. Again, no instructions. If you have some send me a link. Attaching pics.

@TimD So your pictures didn't make it through so if you could email them to me I can take a closer look. But in mean time if you check out the attached link and scroll down you can see the wiring diagrams for the Furrion Chill AC units which hopefully gets you enough info. My email is [email protected] Here's link to Furrion instructions too since your didn't come with a printed copy: https://cdn.accentuate.io/1906114658393/5237057552473/IM-FHA00091_V2.0_ENFRES-(1)-v1672198117672.pdf
