Comparing The Titan Chain Mid Link # TCML8 And Durabilt Double Clevis Link # DU82RR

Question:
What is the difference between the mid links like the TCML8 and the double-clevis links like the DU82RR? I mean other than the WLL rating though both seemed to be marked as Grade-70 items. Is there some difference in their purpose / the way they are to be used? Can they both be used for repairing or coupling chain sections? Why would I spend more for the TCML8 when the DOT will treat it as a 4700lb WLL Grade-70 link, and consider the chain to be only as strong as the weakest link? That extra 1900 lbs capacity is a moot point if the markings on the link dont acknowledge it. So what is it really useful for? Thanks!

Hey George,
The pins included with the Titan Chain Mid Link # TCML8 are stamped G70 grade, whereas the pins from the Durabilt Double Clevis Link # DU82RR are not. The pins on the Durabilt are what is bringing down the WLL rating. After holding both in my hand I personally would go with the Titan Chain # TCML8. It was just slightly bigger than the # DU82RR and felt like more quality was put into it. The holes for one of the pins on the # DU82RR was a little crooked too which would nag at me non-stop if I was using it.
