Question:

I have a 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited with Park Assist. An installation video said something about smart diodes. Can you recommend a product for the tail lights that protect the electrical system and dont activate the Jeeps ECU every time the tail lights go on? Thanks.

Michael, since your Jeep has the park assist then you are going to need the Roadmaster Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage LED Tail Lights # RM47ZR.

The tail lights have a circuit that notifies the ECU if a lamp is out. When the tail light is lit, it sends a signal to the ECU and wakes it up. If the circuit is not interrupted, the battery on the Jeep goes dead in a typical towing day. @Michael The wiring harness should not be pulling enough power to drain your battery, so while it isn't a "fix" it also should not be a problem either.

@BryceD Many people report dead batteries at the end of the day. Every time a brake or turn signal light illuminates, it wakes up the ECU for about 5-10 minutes. When driving at night, the tail lights keep the ECU active on a constant basis. at a 5-6 amp draw, it can kill the battery. A competitor (https://www.cooltechllc.com/towing-harness-solutionsaccessories/142-jl-wrangler-and-gladiator-led-light-fix.html) has a solution for this. I wrote to Roadmaster about this and their harness doesn't address this. He suggested a charge line from the motor home. In my view, this is a poor substitute than disconnecting the circuit. @Michael I see. Unfortunately it appears that the issue will still happen with the harness, so you'd need to get that harness you sent to fix the issue.
