Hey William! It is recommended to use a weight distribution system if a trailer's close to half the weight of the tow vehicle or you're experiencing sway. You're right on the line so I would recommend using one.

The best weight distribution system for a 4,700 lbs trailer is the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution w/ 2-Point Sway Control item # FA92-00-0800. This system works with trailer's that have tongue weights ranging from 400 lbs - 800 lbs. It has built in sway control that will keep your trailer in line with your truck if you make a sudden lane change or get passed on the highway by a semi.

This system does not include a hitch ball. Depending on your coupler size you will either need a 2" Hitch Ball item # A-90 or a 2-5/16" hitch ball item # C40030.

Hey William, how did the Fastway e2 weight distribution system work out with your Sierra and 22-foot trailer? Did it help smooth out the ride and reduce sway on the highway? Your update could make it easier for others towing a similar setup.
