Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/21/2024

Question:

I’m planning on towing my motorcycle using this hitch however the total weight of the rack and motorcycle combined is 310 pounds. Is it still safe to use?

Hi Daniel,

No, it would not be safe to exceed the 300lb capacity of the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7178 with your motorcycle and rack. The hitch would likely be damaged or the hardware could break from the weight and vibration of the vehicle moving and then you're laying your bike down on the road.

There isn't an alternative hitch with a higher capacity so the only option here would be to either find a rack with a lower weight to haul the motorcycle on or find a lightweight enough trailer to tow the motorcycle on.

Hey Daniel, did you end up finding a lighter rack or trailer setup for your motorcycle since the EcoHitch couldn’t handle the full weight? Knowing what worked might help others trying to haul a similar load safely.
