Why Won't My etrailer Generator Start on LP Gas
Updated 10/21/2024 | Published 10/13/2024 >
Question:
Hi, We had run this lovely on LP before. When we needed to fire it up after Milton had passed we could not get it to start on LP. We had a new battery. We were desperate and I finally filled the gas tank and it started right up. What should we do/look at to figure out what the problem is? My husband said the lp hose was connected properly. Could the regulator be bad on the hose? As I said, It had worked before on lp. Glad our power came back on after 1 day as we would not be able to find gasoline after what I had would have run out.. We had 5 tanks of LP on hand we could not use for it. I have shared our spare gasoline with people who ran out. They could be out for weeks. Thanks! Heidi

Heidi, first of all I'm happy to hear you all are doing well after Milton.
When it comes to running the 4,500-Watt Portable RV Generator # 333-0005 off of LP gas you're going to want to make sure it's in the right mode, the oil levels are good, and that it is not in battery saver mode.
If it is in battery saver mode, then the generator is not going to start. You need to have a solid red light for you to be able to start the generator.
Page 25 of the instruction manual goes over the indicator lights, so I'd recommend checking that out as well.
If all that looks correct, and your generator is not in battery saver mode, then you likely have a faulty hose/regulator that would need to be swapped out.

Hi! Just thought this might help in the future. The Dual Fuel gennie had a loose wire on the igniter that is only for the LP. Once we figured it was loose and had been put back on the wrong spade, it started right up. The igniter is not for gas, hence the gennie starting fine on gas. Also Firman sells the hose and regulator with a âTâ fitting so you can hook up 2 tanks. So now we know the original hose is ok, we have the extra hose we can use for 2 tanks at once! Thanks for your suggestions. Cheers! Heidi And Paul Taylor is my husband, it turns out we had both asked the same queation.
