Question:
I have a 2018 Explorer Limited that did not come with a trailer towing package. I have already installed a Draw Tite 76034 Class 3 hitch. I am interested in using the curt echo brake controller, if I install the curt 7 pin C56306 is that going to give the the braking signal to the controller or will I need to install additional components in order for the trailer brakes to work

Hi Dave; the Curt # C56306 will provide you with the 7-way required for the brake controller. Since you're using the Curt Echo # C51180 all you really need from the 7-way is 12V power, which this will provide. The signal on the brake output wire comes directly from the Echo plugged in at the rear of the vehicle.
We do have a tech tip for the wiring harness so make sure to follow it. Tech Tip: On vehicles with two connectors, wiring harness should be connected to the black factory connector; do not use the gray connector.
I went ahead and attached an installation video below for your reference.

Hey Dave, how did things go with the Curt Echo brake controller and the 7-way harness on your Explorer? Did the setup work smoothly once you followed the tech tip about using the black connector? Your update could make it easier for others adding towing gear to the same vehicle.
