Recommended Base to Use a Curt 20K Sliding 5th Wheel Hitch in a Ford Factory Puck System

Updated 12/22/2025 | Published 10/07/2024

Question:

I currently have a 5th wheel curt k20 on a slider non puck system installed in my 2017 f250 that was in a car accident... there is a chance this vehicle is non repairable and the next truck im looking at has a puck system, also a ford... my question is can my current set up be converted to a puck system? If so what will i need to salvage from my current set up before truck goes to salvage yard... thank u David

Hey David! Sorry to hear about your accident. If you can salvage your Curt 20K slider, like item # C55DR, you'll need the Adapter Rails for Curt 5th Wheel Hitch item # C88KR. Most if not all of the Curt 20K's mount to industry standard rails and do not have a base option that mounts in the puck system.

Now if you have the Curt A20 or Q20 slider you can use the Curt 5th Wheel Round Tube Slider for Ford Super Duty Towing Prep Package item # C16020. These are the only exceptions for the Curt 20k sliding 5th wheel hitches.

Hey David, how did things go with converting your Curt 20K slider for the new Ford’s puck system? Your update could make it easier for others trying to reuse their hitch after switching trucks.
