Can The Dexter Over-Under Kit K71-385-00 Be Used On A 2-7/8" Axle?

Question:
I have a 2-7/8 in diameter axel measured with a caliper with 8 lug hubs no tag/ or sticker on it and I want to convert to a oversprung axel on top of 5 leaf pack will a Dexter 3 in over/under kit work on the 2-7/8 axel ? What do you recommend ? Thanks Tom D

Hello Tom, thanks for reaching out. The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00 is made for 3" axles. I really can't recommend using it for anything other than a 3" axle since there is no guarantee that it will work. The spring seats and U-bolts are for 3" axles so they would not fit right.
2-7/8" is not a common axle size, so your best option for this would be to just have a shop weld new spring seats to the top of your axle.
