Hello Steve, good question. I am assuming you are referring to the diameter of the "face" of the hub. The short answer is, yes, hub diameter does matter.

It does matter in the sense that you want to be sure the face of the hub is large enough to support your wheel size. Then on the other side, if a hub has too large of a face, it may not work with some smaller wheel sizes.

For example, the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub # AKIHUB-545-2-G-EZ-2K has a smaller face that is designed to work with 10" or 12" wheels.

Then on the other hand the Easy Grease Trailer Idler Hub # AKIHUB-545-35-G-EZ-K has a larger face diameter and is large enough to support 13"-15" wheels.

Both of the hubs I mentioned use the 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern and will fit the standard 3,500 lb axle.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

Hey Steve, how did things go with matching your Kenda 10-inch wheel to the right Easy Grease hub size? Knowing which hub face worked best could help others choosing between the 2K and 3.5K options.
