Updated 09/20/2024 | Published 09/15/2024

Question:

Trying to setup a 2006 HHR as a toad, would like a base plate that doesnt require cutting or drilling if possible and the towbar to go with it, have researched several on your site but nothing really explains which ones go together. Dont want to spend a fortune but enough to stay safe while towing....thanks in advance

Hey Scotty, thanks for reaching out!

Here are the parts I recommend for flat towing your 2006 Chevy HHR safely and with a price-conscious mind:

- Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit # 3141-1 (requires minor fascia trimming - see attached install video)
- etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e64ZR
- Flint Hill Goods Magnetic Tow Lights # FHG96ZR
- Brake Buddy Classic 3 Portable Flat Tow Brake System # HM39494
- High-Low Adapter (see attached article - bar height is 15.5")

There are other parts that will make your life easier, like the Roadmaster FuseMaster Fuse Bypass # RM76511 so you don't have to physically remove the fuse to tow, but these are the most cost-effective options. If you want some that make for a better experience just let me know and I'd be happy to modify any recommendations!
