Replacement Damper for a Titan Aero 6000 Actuator
Updated 05/23/2014 | Published 05/22/2014 >
Question:
I get the clunk when accelerating or braking and was told I need a new damper. I have the Titan Aero-6000 actuator and the manual says the part number for the damper is 4520000. What do you suggest? Do you have this part or a similar replacement? Any instructions on how to replace this part? Thx. Loyal etrailer customer.

If you can verify that the clunk noise is coming from the actuator, then a faulty damper would be the likely culprit. The damper controls the movement of the coupler into the actuator. The correct damper for your Titan Aero 6000 actuator is part # T4502000.
The Aero 6000 changed to the Aero 7500 and the part number for the damper changed. I verified with my contact at Titan that this damper will fit the Aero 6000.
Titan does not provide instructions on how to replace these parts, but I attached a parts breakdown to give you an idea of how the actuator is set up and I highlighted a few of the key components. There is a 1/2 inch bolt holding the damper to the actuator housing, so that will need to be removed. The other end of the damper is held in using a damper pin. You will most likely have to remove the coupler portion from the outer housing to gain access to the damper pin. Remember to remove the handle and coupler bolts before attempting to remove the coupler.
