Can Timbren Axle-Less System be Used with 17" Wheels for Off-Road Application

Question:

Im looking at buying the Timbren 2000 axle-less suspension long spindle: ASR2KHDS03. I know you cant recommend vehicle wheels on a trailer, but I am building an overland trailer and would like to have the same wheels as my truck. Is there a configuration for drums/ and electric brakes that have the 6x5.5 using a 17in wheel to fit the Timbren suspension mentioned above?

Hey David, thanks for reaching out!

The Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR2KHDS03 isn't big enough to fit with what you're wanting. You can upgrade to the Timbren Axle-Less Trailer Suspension # ASR35HDS02 so you can use the 12" etrailer Electric Trailer Brakes # AKEBRK-7-SA and Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-655-6-EZ-K that has the 6 on 5-1/2" bolt pattern you're looking for, but it is worth noting that this hub and drum assembly is only designed to fit with up to 16-1/2" wheels so I'm not confident it will work with your setup.

In addition to the larger tires, I recommend checking out the Lock N Roll Coupler # 336TS504, Hitch # 336VS511, and the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Brake Controller # RED23CR for an off-road setup. The articulating couplers make it easier to stay connected in all sorts of terrain and the brake controller can switch seamlessly between highway and off-road use.
