Question:
I just want to replace the guts of my MAXX FAN 4801K. Lid doesnt close electrically and now the fan has quit. I know that the 4801K is no longer available. Is there any way to replace internal workings and not have to deal with resealing the whole unit?

Hello CW; it is possible to replace parts on your 4801K to see if you can get it up and running again. We have the following parts available:
-Replacement Lift Motor for Maxx Fan Plus Roof Vent # MA10-20270
-Replacement Operator Mechanism for MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus or MaxxFan Deluxe Roof Vents # MA10-20281K-1AF
-Replacement Lift Arm for MaxxFan Roof Vents # MA10-20222KS
-Replacement Printed Circuit Board for MaxxAir Powered Lift RV Roof Vents w/ Reversible Fan # MA10A21275K
-Replacement 12-Volt Variable Speed Fan Motor for MaxxAir MaxxFan RV Roof Vents # MA10-20968
It sounds like you will at least need the lift motor. You can check for 12V power to see if it is running to the fan motor or not. If it is, the motor is probably the issue. If not, you're looking at a replacement circuit board. It could potentially be both.
Ultimately, it is probably best to replace the entire vent with the # MA00-04500K you were looking at. I understand it may be extra work but it doesn't take much for additional parts to end up costing more than an entirely new roof vent. Even if you only need the two motors now, you would hate for the circuit board to give out shortly after and find you would have been better off replacing the whole thing.
