How Should the Erickson ATV E Track Tie-Down Kit Be Installed?
Updated 09/04/2024 | Published 09/03/2024 >
Question:
This response says the Erickson Tie Down Kit should be mounted to the rear tires, but the instruction video shows them mounted to the front tires. Two questions: 1. Which is correct, front or rear mount? 2. Are only two tie downs needed for a Polaris RZR 1000 4 seater? Or should there be tie downs on each wheel?

Hey Richard! I can't speak for our install video but I reached out to Erickson this morning for clarification. This is the information I received:
Rear mount is the recommended way to install the Erickson ATV E Track Tie-Down Kit w/ Ratchet Straps and Wheel Chocks item # EM09160 because of the potential for the rear end to jump up in a sudden stop situation. The force placed on the ATV from your tow vehicle pulling forward being significantly less than a sudden stop is the reasoning.
As far as your second question goes, you're going to need two full sets based on the information I could find online about your Polaris RZR 1000 4 seater. The Erickson item # EM09160 tops out at 1,500 lbs per set. All of the models I could find online with the information you provided me weigh more than that.

Thanks Jarred. Your response makes sense to me … needing the straps on all four wheels … especially on the rear so the RZR doesn’t tip forward in a sudden stop. Because your install video only showed straps on the front of a four seater, it didn’t make sense … so I thought I’d ask. It’d probably be good to update your video.
