Question:

Is there a drill or cordless impact driver available for this winch?

Hello John. Dutton-Lainson does make a drill adapter part # DL6456 but this only works with the DLB style of Dutton Lainson winches with the automatic brake, so it will not work with the # DL15440 you mentioned. For a compatible winch take a look at the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch w/ Automatic Brake # DL15721. This will work with the # DL6456 drill adapter.

Thank you Jesse. I contacted D-L and inquired about this. You won't believe this. The engineer said a drill adapter doesn't work well with letting the strap out so they haven't made one. Drill adapters are used after you pull the strap out (and the handle is off) when the boat is half on the trailer. Then use an adapter on a drill and and wind the boat in. Makes it easier for us old guys.

@JohnA As a, thinking outside the box, I bought a King Gator, Gator Grip universal socket. It's made to handle 400lbs of torque. It was cheap on the mfg's website. I look forward to giving it a try to see how it holds. I know standard versions aren't too well adored. I've thought these things gimmicks. When I use it, I'll report back. Might be something you'll want to carry or direct customers to. Amazon and other sites jacked the price way up to near $100 for the King Gator. It's $26 on the MFGs website plus shipping.
