How do I know if my jeep has a 7 way factory connector?

If you look at the back of your 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee and see a wiring connector that looks like the Tow Ready Wiring harness part # 20135 then you have a 7-way. Another option you could have is a 4-way which would look like part # 18172, or you might not have any connector at all.

To add a 4-way you would first want the Tow Ready Wiring harness part # 118394. If you needed to upgrade to a 7-way you would need the 4-Way to 7-Way adapter part # 37185 after installing the #118394.

For a trailer hitch I would recommend the Draw-Tite part # 75338.

For a ball mount, hitch ball, and pin and clip, I would recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit, part # 989900. This is a kit which includes 2 ball mounts, a 1-7/8 inch ball, 2 inch ball, and a hitch pin and clip.
