Question:
I need to rplace tires and wheels for a shoreline trailer carrying a 17 ft Boston Whaler Montauk. Current tires are 5.30 12 5 lug class B. Should I use load B or ugrade to load C. Is there any negative to using load class C? Thanks

My personal recommendation would be to go with a load range C tire like the Kenda 5.30-12 Bias Trailer Tire with 12 inch Galvanized Wheel, # AM30850, or the # AM30820 with white wheel. The class C tire offers a higher load capacity than that of the class B tire and may be beneficial when hauling your boat. Keep in mind that although you would be increasing the load capacity on your tires, you are still limited to the lowest rated component on the trailer. I spoke with my in-house tire expert and he could not name any negatives to making the upgrade from a load class B tire to the C.
