Troubleshooting Lack Of Running Light Signal When Using A Curt Echo Brake Controller

Updated 08/22/2024 | Published 08/18/2024

Question:

Just bought the echo wireless brake controller worked fine going to my destination, when I returned home the running lights would not work, the brake and directionals worked as did the brakes when I got home I tried the lights without the echo controller and all lights worked. Is the problem with the echo unit. Its on a new 2024 f150

Hey Stephen,

It sounds like the trailer plug may have some debris or just wasn't making good contact with the Echo # C51180 or the contacts on the Echo weren't making good contact with the 7-way connector on your F-150. I would first start by checking each contact for debris and clean as needed. If there's no debris I would wiggle the Echo and press in more to make sure it's fully connected to the to vehicle and do the same thing with the trailer connector to the Echo.

If the lights still do not work then I would reach out to Curt. The Echo just lets power pass through for the lights so the only reason it wouldn't would be if there's not a good connection or if the unit is faulty. If you removed the Echo from the equation and the lights still didn't work then that's when I'd look at the vehicle and trailer wiring for the issue, but it sounds like yours worked fine when the Echo was removed so it's the issue.

@Stephen That's not good to hear, Curt is typically one of the better vendors when it comes to customer service when I call. I'm glad I could help resolve the issue for you through.
