Question:

Could one of these be mounted in the truck bed on the sidewall to be used for storage of the hitch and sleeve and pin when not in use? How big are the bolts? Likely would need to use a couple large self tapping sheet metal screws but it looks like it would be a lot more solid than other applications out there

Hey Jim,

The Gen-Y Anti-Rattle Clamp for 2-1/2" Hitch Receivers # GY28XR uses two M10 x 1.50 x 25MM Hex Flange Bolts. The bolts would likely be enough to hold some weight but the real question is whether or not the walls of the truck bed are going to handle the weight of the ball mount and not just let the # GY28XR rip right out. I would make sure that you're drilling into something thick/solid and use some Loctite # LT1330799 to prevent the bolts from coming loose due to any movement/vibration in the bed.
