Trailer Hitch Option For Winnebago Fuse
Updated 08/21/2024 | Published 08/16/2024 >
Question:
I have a 2017 Winnebago Fuse 23T. It came with a Class I Hitch. I want to upgrade the hitch to a Class II or III so I can flat tow a small car 3000 pounds. I have talked to several people at Ford, Winnebago, etrailers over the phone, and Curt. I have had no luck. Based on the recommendation from someone at etrailer, I purchased a Class II hitch and took it to a fabricator. He said he could not install the hitch because holes did not line up and he did not want to accept the liability for welding to the vehicle. I returned the hitch. My Fuse is on A 2016 Ford Transit Chassis and the Owners Manual indicates the fuse can tow up to 5000 pounds. Can you assist me in locating a compatible hitch for my RV? Thank you.

Hello Arthur,
There isn't anything specifically made for your Winnebago Fuse or Ford Transit chassis, so the only thing you can do is put on a universal weld-on hitch. I recommend taking a look at the Curt # 15903 which gets welded onto frames up to 60 inches wide and provides a drop from the frame of 11-1/2 inches.
You'll need to measure to see if that'll work for you, and if not I have added a link below to our entire selection of weld-on hitches.

Thank you. I was told that I could remove the 1.25" receiver from the frame and weld a 2" receiver as a replacement and it would increase the towing capacity to a Class 2 hitch. Because I want to tow a small (2500-3000 pound) car, I was informed there would be minimal tongue stress and would allow safe towing of a vehicle. Can you confirm this? Sincerely, Art
