Availability of Replacement Strut and Mounting Plate for 2014 Sears XL Cargo Box

Question:
Hiya, Looking for the metal hardware that holds the lid lifter and the lid lifters for a Thule XL Sears Cargo box from 2014, model number 90040. One of the lifters pulled away from the metal in the box. Im thinking I may be able to hammer the non-broken rivet on the lifter back into the circle on the metal hardware? On the other side, the plastic of the lifter snapped at the rivet. Would also appreciate a link to how to repair. Below are the photos of what we now have. Thanks! Jen

Hi Jen; we do have the lid lifter/strut which is the Replacement Dual Force Strut for Thule Roof Box # TH14933. However, those metal brackets they attach to are not available as a replacement part. We also don't have any videos or instructions on how to repair this.
I would try to reattach the rivet like you said or see if you can find a replacement rivet. If nothing else, you could take one of the brackets to a local fabricator and have them make new ones. New cargo boxes are pretty expensive so I'm sure it would be worth the cost to have brackets made to repair it.

Hey Jen, how did things go with reattaching the rivet on your Thule cargo box? Were you able to get the lid lifter working again or have new brackets made? Your update could make it easier for others facing the same repair.
