Question:
For the 2012 suzuki equator, I already have the 4 pin connector attached in the rear, but I dont recall installing a relay kit inside the truck. I havent had to use it yet, however in am picking up a new trailer during the week. I hooked a test led light up to the connector, I see the turn signals work but I have no idea about the brake lights. Is the relay kit a must, and if so do you sell just that portion seperetly? Thank you in advance for your time

If the 4-pole connector you speak of was factory installed, everything should already be functional. If you've just installed a 4-ploe, using a part like # 118263, then the relay kit # C57000 would be needed. The brown relay activates the 12-volt circuit to the trailer connector (which you won't need since you have a 4-pole) and the two blue relays activate the right and left turn signal and brake lamp.
Since you mentioned that you got a signal at the trailer connector with the turn signals, it sounds like the relays might already be in place. Go ahead and test for the brake lamp signal. Your tester should go hot on the pin fed by the yellow and the green wire when the brake pedal is pressed.
If you've installed the # 118263 without the relays, it would explain what you have going on. The turn signals would work, but the running lights would not.
If your truck wasn't equipped with the tow package, and you simply plug that connector in, your directionals and brake lights will work, but you will have NO running lights. In order for the running lights to be active, the relays need to be installed. To install them, you'll need the jumper harness included with the # C56225. The good news is that the # C56225 includes the relays, but it also includes the 4 pole connector you already have. At least you'll have a spare on hand if the connector ever gets damaged.
I've linked you to an install video showing the relays and the trailer wiring harness being installed.

Hi Mike, so I have the 2012 Equator. Have the tow package and also hooked up a 7 pin and 4 pin tow harness to the factory plugs under the truck bed. I have everything but tail lights showing active when testing but when I have the trailer hooked nothing works. The trailer works on another vehicle so I’m not sure what is going on, would this issue be related to the relay harness on the passenger side? I have not yet checked if one is there so I do not know. I’m just confused because I have the L and R turn signal showing on the tester but not the Tail Light indicator. I’m talking about the little 4 pin wire tester you plug in. Thanks for your time.
