Do I Need to Mount the Replacement Exterior Pop-Up Roof Vent on a Stud?
Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/12/2024 >
Question:
I am looking at installing these on the side of an aluminum enclosed snowmobile trailer one on each side. My question is do I need to have the leading edge i.e. towards the front screwed into a vertical wall stud/beam, or is mounting in between so that only the skin is holding it on, sufficient? Placing them in the middle would be ideal, but the last thing I want to see is the wind ripping back my side paneling! Thanks!

The Replacement Exterior Pop-Up Roof Vent item # RV-626-062 can be installed anywhere on your trailer. It does not have to be bolted into a wall stud. Mounting it between them on a panel will be sufficient.

Hey, how did the vents hold up once you mounted them on your trailer panels? It’d be great to hear if they stayed secure during travel. Your update could make it easier for others setting up similar vents.
