How Do I Hook Up 2 15' LED Light Strips to the Controller on the Smart LED Light Strip w/ App?

Updated 11/25/2025 | Published 11/23/2025

Question:

I’m looking to run two 15ft parallel strips controlled by one controller. Looks like this controller has two leads for this purpose, but how do I connect the opposite end of the cut strip? Male / female ends.

Hello Dave,

You’re right about how it works. When installing the Smart LED Light Strip w/ App and Wireless IR Remote Control # DIA86QR the Diamond Group DG72694 controller can run two LED strips at the same time. It has two plugs with four pins each that let you connect one 15-foot strip to each plug. Both strips will light up and change colors together using the same controller and remote.

When you cut the long strip into two pieces, you’ll have an open end on each one. You don’t need to connect anything to those open ends because they’re just the far ends of the lights. All you need to do is seal them to keep them protected. The easiest way is to use small end caps or heat-shrink tubing with a bit of clear silicone inside. This keeps out moisture and dust so the lights last longer.

The controller’s plugs are male connectors, and the LED strips usually have female connectors on the ends that plug in. Just line up the markings for +12V and the R, G, and B colors when you connect them so everything lights up correctly.

Where will you be installing these 2 15' strips?

Thanks for the reply, can you confirm both ends are female on the chord? I’m assuming since they are meant to be daisy chained, one end would be opposite. If that’s the case, do you offer male/female adapters? TIA. The lights are going into a recessed track for a vintage RV I’m restoring.

@Dave The # DIA86QR strips do have female connectors on both ends, since they’re designed to plug into a controller or use jumpers for daisy-chaining. That means you’ll need a male-to-female 4-pin connector if you want to connect two sections together. For some reason we do not currently have the 4 pin connectors on our site, I am going to get them added. Since you are doing both 15' strips from the controller, you will be good to go. Very cool! My Dad used to have a 1965 Shasta that matched his 1968 Chevy truck. He kept the truck, but sold the Shasta for a Class C to hit the road when he retired. I miss that old camper.
