Can CE Smith Post Guide Ons be Used with Boat Lift

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/07/2024

Question:

I have an aluminum boat lift which I would like to put these guides or the bunk guides on. The lifting cradle frame which the boat bunks are on conform to the trailer size stated in the description. I would have to mount it on top of the cradle frame which runs side to side. Basically, I am doing the same thing as putting it on a trailer except I am not towing it away. The boat and motor weigh about 1200. Given this information does it sound like it should work? Any obstacles you can think of? Just want to keep it in line while I raise it up. Thanks

Hey Joseph, the CE Smith Post Guide Ons part # CE27620 will work great for you on your boat lift. Essentially it's the exact same application as a boat trailer like you mentioned except there's no wheels!

Hey Joseph, how did the CE Smith post guide-ons work out on your boat lift? It sounds like they should have kept your boat lined up smoothly as you raised it. Your feedback could help others setting up a similar lift.

It kept my 15ft boat lined up even with 2 ft waves coming at the side so I could raise it up. I recommend if you are dealing with waves putting the tallest ones on that you can use.

@Jd800 Nice! Those are pretty big waves to try and get a boat back onto a trailer with!
