Does 2024 Chevy Silverado 2500 with 6-1/2 ft Bed Need Slider Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch

Question:
@JamesonC thanks for your reply. I bough a 2024 Grand Deisgn reflection 150 260RD from Blue Compass and they installed the B&W companion in F-150 short-bed crew cab truck with Curt turning point pin box. I understand now that this was an incorrect application. On a recent trip, I hit the back of the cab of the F-150 with the front corner of the 5th wheel damaging the top of the back of the cab and breaking the back window out. So, even with the turning point hitch, a tight turn with any kind of grade irregularity will result in damage to tow vehicle and/or 5th wheel. I have replaced the short bed F-150 with a 2024 Silverado 2500 HD 6’10” bed. If I remove the wedge and put the two bolts into the back of the Curt pin box, will I have the same risk of hitting the back of the cab or is the longer bed with extended pin box locked going to provide enough clearance? Not sure how to proceed with Blue Compass but seems they should’ve known better….

Even with the slightly longer truck bed of your new Chevy truck I would be a little worried about turning clearance. Since the pin box does need to be locked out what you would want to do is go to the slider version of the Companion hitch which is part # BWRVK3400. This will make sure you definitely have enough turning clearance.
Unless you wanted to completely start over with a new rail kit and a fixed hitch that you could use with the pin box unlocked...

Thank you! Really appreciate your input. Blue Compass San Marcos CA has agreed to replace my stationary hitch with the slider version. Do you happen to know what the torque specification is for the 2 bolts that need to be installed to keep the turning point pin box stationary?
