What Brand Of Jack Is On My Gooseneck Trailer And Availability Of Replacement Gears

Question:

I have a square down jack for a gooseneck horse trailer that I need to replace the gears on. The trailer is a 6 horse Cato Classic. mfg in 2000. It has a side pull release pin, that looks like the one from buyers productsinch The 2 speed box looks like the bulldog. It does not have a spring return It is welded on There is a metal ID plate attached with the following information embossed. LG 4777-30000 3932 Any idea what brand this might be?

Hello Kathy, thanks for reaching out. That does look similar to a bulldog jack, but I did not find any reference for the part number you provided, so I cannot confirm what brand that is. Without knowing the brand it is not possible to recommend a replacement gear kit. Even if we did know the brand, it is likely that a gear kit is not available since the jack is so old. In this case your best bet will be to replace the jack entirely. The Square Jack # TJD-12000SP-F2 is a very popular square jack. The outer tube is 4" wide, it has 25-7/8" of total travel and a 10K lift capacity. Please take a closer look at your jack and confirm these dimensions.

Hey Kathy, did the square jack you looked at match the dimensions of your old one on the Cato Classic trailer? Knowing how the fit turned out could help others replacing older welded jacks too.
