Question:
Can I go to a 7 3/4inch equalizer if my current set up has a 6? Its an older trailer with U-channel Y equalizer. If I do what would be the negative impact?

Hello Charles. When replacing an equalizer, it is very important that the replacement is identical in size to the original equalizer. The trailer is built around specifically sized suspension components, so there is very little wiggle room. For the equalizer there is a tolerance of like 1/2" or less, but going from a 6" to a 7-3/4" will throw off the suspension to where your shackles or springs will not rest at the correct angle, and you could end up damaging something.
The Curved Equalizer # TREQ356 is 6-1/4" long so this will be our closest option. This equalizer is 2-1/2" tall so please confirm that this matches the current equalizer. I have attached a diagram below for your reference.
