Can You Adjust Pivot Arms Of B&W Companion BWRVK3600 To Where Pin Weight Is Further Forward On Truck

Updated 01/19/2026 | Published 08/01/2024

Question:

Have a Ram 2015 3500 single wheel Cummins Diesel and 8 foot bed w/mega cab Have a 2018 Montana 3701 I purchased the BW Companion at a trailer shop they had pivot arm clear to rear of pin with the sloped mounting arm forward mid height. Did not like that at all moved it as far forward as I could and still at mid height with sloped arm still forward. Much better. But I still think it should have more weight forward. Can I reverse the slope arm to the rear and as far forward as it will go. I think that would move the weight about 2 more inches forward and would be as far forward as this system will go. Am I correct in this thinking?

I took a screenshot of the instructions that show how you can adjust the pivot arms of your B&W Companion # BWRVK3600 to bring the weight as far forward as possible, though this will bring the trailer closer to your cab. Since your 2015 Ram 3500 has a 8' bed you shouldn't have any clearance issues doing this, but I'd make sure before you make your first sharp turn.

I'll be honest, if you have the pivot arm set to just over the axle as shown in the included picture, that would be just fine also. All you can really ask for is the weight to be directly over the axle which this setting does.

Hey, how did things go after you adjusted the pivot arms on your B&W Companion for your Ram? Did moving the weight forward give you the balance you were hoping for? Your update could make it easier for others fine-tuning their hitch setup.
