Do Electric Brake Assemblies Bolt In Place Using Studs or Bolts
Updated 05/16/2014 | Published 05/15/2014 >
Question:
Im looking at putting electric brakes on my trailer. From looking at the photos of the brake assemblies on your website, I cannot determine whether the mounting bolts are loose or welded/ pressed onto the backer plate. I need to be able to remove the bolts, and then pass them through the mounting flange and then mount the backer plate to the flange. Can you advise, are the bolts removable, ie Loose on the assembly?

Some electric brake assemblies use studs that are permanently integrated into the assembly to attach to the brake mounting flange, and some will use bolts.
The overwhelming majority of 7 inch assemblies use studs, as do almost all 10 inch assemblies. Most 12 inch assemblies would use mounting bolts.
If you can provide me with some particulars about the size drums or brake assemblies you're planning on using, I'd be happy to give you some specifics.
