Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/29/2024

Question:

Im interested in the RoadMaster BrakeMaster system. Its not clear to me whether theres a custom seat adapter that will work with my 2014 Jeep Compass. Can you let me know if theres an adapter that will fit? Thanks.

Hey John,

A seat adapter is indeed required for your 2014 Jeep Compass in order to use the Roadmaster BrakeMaster Supplemental Brake System # RM-9160.

I went ahead and checked directly with Roadmaster for your and verified the correct adapter for your '14 Compass is the RoadMaster BrakeMaster Custom Seat Adapter # RM-88253.

Hey John, how did the RoadMaster BrakeMaster and custom seat adapter work out with your Jeep Compass? Your update could make it easier for the next person setting up the same system.

@JesseM Thanks for asking! It's working great. Getting behind the firewall to mount the breakaway air cylinder was challenging...I wish I'd have thought just to use sheet metal screws rather than through-bolts. Also, I was leery of messing with the brake electrical switch since it's a blind connection that you can only do through feel, so I just wired the brake on indicator to the brake light line.

@JohnR Thanks for the follow-up, John. Glad to hear it’s working great overall. That firewall mount can definitely be the trickiest part on those installs, and your note about sheet metal screws vs through-bolts is a good heads-up for anyone doing this themselves. I also appreciate you sharing how you handled the brake indicator wiring. That blind connection makes a lot of people nervous, so tying into the brake light line instead is a practical workaround. Solid real-world feedback that’ll help the next Compass owner going down the same path.
